Helotes Real Estate

Helotes was incorporated as a city in 1981; however, the town, whose name derives from the Spanish word elotes, or corn-on-the-cob, has been on Texas maps since the nineteenth century. The term elotes, or Helotes, has been used since the early 1700s, when it was mentioned in a Spanish report to the governor of the region, describing the area where Apaches scalped a Spaniard who had been looking for stray horses.
Helotes is only about 15 miles northwest of downtown San Antonio and close to Sea World and Fiesta Texas. Even though Helotes has a growing population, it still retains a unique small town feel. Helotes has been recognized as one of the fastest growing small towns in the country.
